Lot 156a 19FZ-4 SPRINGFIELD 1842

Springfield Model 1842 musket in .69 caliber with lock dated 1844 possibly used in Mexican American War. Very good plus condition showing lightly cleaned bright metal surfaces. Markings are slightly light on lock. Some scattered light pitting. Good “V.P.” and eagle head proofs. Stocks are also very good plus but show no cartouche which is often the case. No losses along ramrod channel. Some dings, mars and scratches of which none are major. Correct trumpet shaped ramrod. Tight and crisp action.
